Cape Town

Cape Town was stunning. I didn't expect it. An absolutely beautiful city on the coast, surrounded by incredible natural experiences. Spend a few days in the town, then venture down the coast and then northeast to the winelands. So much to do, it's hard to leave.

Sightseeing

Boulders Beach

If you're down in the area, you need to stop at boulders beach. There are two attractions, the penguins and the scenery. When I was there, the scenery was by far the most impressive part. Some of the photos I took on the beach look like a fantasy. Absolutely beautiful.

Other

Camps Bay Beach

Camps Bay is AMAZING. AMAZING. My favorite part of Cape Town. I wouldn't stay anywhere else the next time I was there. Not only was it beautiful, but it has a condensed main strip that's walkable but doesn't feel too commercial. Beautiful place to see Table Mountain as well.

Cape of Good Hope

You're close enough, you need to make it down to the cape and look around. The drive from Cape Town is phenomenal and the park around the Cape is beautiful.

Clouds Estate

If you're in the Winelands, seriously consider this place. I stayed here for a few nights in one of their self service cottages. The property is absolutely beautiful, the chenin Blanc made on site is delicious, and the staff is friendly. Really nice to stay here instead of nearby, and more touristy Stellenboch.

Eating

Dizzys Restaurant & Pub

Fun, local dive bar that has decent bar food and a fun scene.

Eating

Dunes Beach Restaurant & Bar

If you're down in Hout Bay, this is a great little place to eat that has really reasonable prices (I got a $10 filet that was about 3x bigger than your typical US filet). Good vibe in an old cottage.

Fairview Wine and Cheese

I think this is known as more of a commercial winery, but that's okay. I loved it. I did the master wine and cheese tasting, which lasted 90 minutes and was $8. It included 9 wines and 8 cheeses. Everything was phenomenally delicious. You'll see this cheese sold all over the region. It's amazing.

Table Mountain

One of the most beautiful scenic points I've ever been to, plan to spend a few hours on top of Table Mountain. I went my first day and it was a great way to get our bearings. You'll be blown away at the views of the Atlantic, the city, Camps Bay, and the southern points of Africa

Drinking

The Roundhouse

Everyone who I asked before going told me to make sure to go to Roundhouse. You can go for casual lunch, a very formal dinner, or just cocktails. I had my last glass of wine here, overlooking a beautiful view of Camps Bay. At least go for a drink.
